Quick iPhone Tip

I can't remember where I read this, but someone posted a tip that I finally remembered to test out. If you happen to remember reading this somewhere else, let me know in the comments so I can give them proper credit.

My iPhone is about as attached to me as my glasses or my hair (although, my iPhone isn’t receding or turning grey). I’m constantly typing on it, so any tip that will improve my typing speed or accuracy is a great boost to my productivity.

The iPhone’s auto-correct mechanism has been really effective, at least from my experiences. Even with contractions, it will add the proper punctuation. There are, however, a few exceptions to that rule. When the contraction without punctuation is also a proper word, like were or well, then the iPhone has know way of knowing which one you were planning on using. I’m sure someday it will read our minds, or at least have a grammar checker that could determine the right word in any given instance. Until that day, I’ve found a good tip.

If you add a duplicate final letter to the end of the word, it seems to understand that you’re trying to make a contraction. So, if you type welll or weree, it will automatically turn them into we’ll and we’re.

So far, this has worked 100% of the time for me. As I’m typing this on my iPhone, all of the we’re and we’ll references were typed out using this method. If this doesn’t work for you, please let me know. I’m curious to hear about any exceptions to this rule.

Do you have any tips like this for me? It doesn’t have to be about iPhone specifically, but any tips on how to increase productivity while on the run can be great for anyone running a business.
